研究方向:

腊红桂教授的"植物分子遗传学和表观基因组学"研究团队, 以模式植物拟南芥和水稻为研究对象, 开展植物表观遗传学和控制水稻重要农艺性状的基因的克隆, 功能研究和应用研究, 包括以下方面:

(1) 拟南芥DNA去甲基化的分子机理和表观基因组学.

(2) 拟南芥基因沉默的分子机理.

(3) 表观遗传学修饰与pre-mRNA转录后剪切加工的关系.

(4) 水稻抗逆基因和控制重要农艺性状(产量, 抗逆性)的基因的定位、克隆, 功能研究和生产应用.

Profile of Dr. Honggui La

Dr. Honggui La was raised in Henan province which is located in the middle part of China. He is now a professor in Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, College of Life Sciences, Nanjing Agricultural University. He became a PhD advisor since 2013. He was elected as a memeber of "Program of Exellent Scientists in Jiangsu province" in 2016.

Dr. La obtained his bachelor degree in Henan Normal University in 1999, and his PhD degree in China Agricultural University in 2004. Later on, he jointed the first-class national biological institute--Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Afterwards, he went to United States for postdoctral research. His postdoctral research lasted 6 years in 3 universities, Ohio State University (OSU), University of California, Riverside (UCR), and Purdue University. Following the postdoctoral career, he got a job in Shanghai Center for Plant Stress Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as an associate professor. He got his professor position in Nanjing Agricultural University in 2013. He went to Nara Institute of Science and Technology of Japan (NAIST) as a visiting scholar in 2019, which was sponsored by a Joint visiting program between NSFC and JSPS.

Dr. La is currently a member of Editorial Board of an international plant journal--Journal of Plant Physiology.


Dr. La's research group welcomes students from China and other countries to study in this lab as graduate or PhD students.

Research in Dr. La's lab

Dr. La's research group focuses on plant epigenetics and crop molecular biology. For the research of plant epigenetics, model plant Arabidopsis is used to unravel the molecuar mechanisms underlying DNA demethylation, gene silencing, and impact of epigenetic modifications (DNA methylation, histone modifications) on the pre-mRNA splicing. For the research of crop molecular biology, model crop rice is used to discover useful genes responsible for elite agronomic traits, such as rice grain yield, stress tolerance, etc., through map-based cloning strategy. The follow-up studies after gene cloning include functional characterization and practical applications of such elite genes in rice breeding.
